How To Program a Le Bistro Pet Feeder

picture of the le bistro pet feeder

If you bought a Le Bistro automatic pet feeder, you will soon realize that the included instructions might as well be in a different language, and having the programming menu be completely counterintuitive really doesn’t help! After a while I got frustrated and decided to re-write them, so for those of you looking to program (or re-program once your batteries run out!), here you go:

Some quick notes to start:

  • Along the LEFT side of the display will be the meals that are set to deliver food
  • The BOTTOM RIGHT number displays how many meals have been delivered
  • To access the main menu, press “PROG” and “+” at the same time
  • To get out of the main menu, press “PROG” and “SET” at the same time.

Set the time

  • Go to the main menu (PROG and + at the same time)
  • Press + until “current time” is displayed
  • Press SET to enter the time edit mode (AM and PM are now displayed, AM is blinking)
  • Press + until you are at the correct AM or PM, then press SET (now, the first time digit is blinking) *note:  if you want to set the time to 10, 11, or 12 the 2nd digit must be 0, 1, or 2 BEFORE you change the first digit to a 1.
  • Press + to change the number and PROG to move to the next number (if you want to go back and change a number, keep pressing PROG until it cycles back around)
  • When done, press SET and you are back at the main menu

Set meal times

  • Go to the main menu (PROG and +)
  • Press + until “meal time” is displayed
  • Press SET to enter the meal time edit mode (Breakfast is now blinking)
  • Press + until you are at the meal time you want to edit, and then press PROG (if you passed the meal time you want to edit, keep pressing PROG until it cycles back around) *note:  the latest time breakfast can be set to is 11:59am.  (to set breakfast to 10:xx or 11:xx, you must first set the 2nd digit to a 0 or 1 BEFORE changing the first digit to 1)
  • The top right digit (1 or 0) is to signify whether this feeding time is enabled.  1 is enabled, 0 is disabled.
  • When you are done, you can either press SET to return to the main menu, or keep pressing PROG until “Breakfast’ is flashing to move to another feeding time.  (remember, to go to a new feeding time: when Breakfast is blinking, press + to cycle between meal times)

Set meal sizes

  • Go to the main menu (PROG and +)
  • Press + until “meal size” is displayed
  • Press SET to enter the meal size edit mode
  • A number in the top right corner will be blinking. This number represents how many 1/4 cups of food will be dispensed at each enabled meal. Press + to cycle through the amount of food (1-8)
  • When done, press SET to return to main menu

To manually have it dispense food, press SET and +. Caution, it will continue to dispense until you press SET and + again.

That’s it, you should now be able to program your Le Bistro pet feeder! Keep in mind the clock does get behind a bit each day, so every once and a while, verify that the time is correct.

  1. AWESOME instructions!! I’ve always dreaded when either the batteries die or someone hits the off switch accidentally.

This was the first time in ages that I got the programming done in under 10 minutes!! Usually it’s 30+ and a ton of frustrations!!

Thanks for giving me some of my sanity back!!

  2. This is the most helpful instructions I have seen on this feeder. It was donated to one of my senior foster cats and I really wanted to set it up for him.
    Thank you so much!

  3. same here… a donated feeder for feral cats and i could NOT figure out how to program it. and this is having at least 10 other le bistro newer models. SO happy to find this

  4. Muchas gracias 😊 Nunca supe cómo hacerlo hasta ahora. No se puede hacer más complicado. Creo que los nuevos modelos son más sencillos, además de tener el plato extraible (increíble que no se les ocurriera desde el principio).

  5. Thank you for the instructions! I couldn’t find my printed ones I made ages ago and was dreading having to try figuring it all out again.

  6. Bought my feeder at garage sale, new, still in the box. After trying to program it, I knew why they sold it. After many unsuccessful attempts , I found you instructions, Thank you so much for sharing.

  7. Thank you for these easy to follow directions. I’ve had this feeder for probably 20 years and every time the batteries die I have completely forgotten how to program it. Thank you so much!!
